BASF inaugurates world-scale acrylic acid complex in Camaçari, Brazil

  • First world-scale production complex for acrylic acid and superabsorbent polymers in South America
  • With more than €500 million, largest investment in BASF’s history in the region
  • Butyl acrylate plant in Guaratinguetá to be converted to produce 2-ethylhexyl acrylate

Camaçari, Brazil – June 19, 2015 – BASF today inaugurated its world-scale production complex for acrylic acid, butyl acrylate and superabsorbent polymers in Camaçari, Bahia, Brazil.
These are the first plants for acrylic acid and superabsorbent polymers in South America.

BASF and Sinopec inaugurate acrylic acid and SAP plants in Nanjing, China

  • New superabsorbent polymers, acrylic acid and butyl acrylate plants serve growing demand in China market
  • Integrated production enables resource efficiency and energy conservation

Nanjing, China – April 9, 2014 – BASF and Sinopec today inaugurated two new plants for acrylic acid and superabsorbent polymers (SAP) at their state-of-the-art Verbund site, BASF-YPC Co., Ltd., a 50-50 joint venture in Nanjing, China. Additionally, a new butyl acrylate plant will begin production later this year.

BASF and SINOPEC consider further expansion of Nanjing joint venture

  • Partners investigate expansion of ethylene oxide production and new neopentylglycol unit
  • Further development of acrylic acid value chain including butyl acrylate, acrylic acid and SAP: production to commence in 2014
Ludwigshafen, Germany; Nanjing , China – May 29 , 2013 -BASF and SINOPEC are considering the extension of their Nanjing joint venture BASF-YPC Company Limited with the expansion of existing ethylene oxide (EO) production, and a new plant for neopentylglycol (NPG). BASF-YPC will further expand its acrylic acid value chain with additional acrylic acid and butyl acrylate plants. Production is expected to commence in 2014.

PETRONAS and BASF move ahead with expansion of partnership in Malaysia

  • Partners sign "Heads of Agreement" for development of new project in Pengerang
  • Further progress on expansion plan for current joint venture in Kuantan

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia – March 6, 2012 – PETRONAS and BASF have taken the next steps in the development of the previously announced €1 billion investment that will expand their partnership in Malaysia, involving projects at their existing venture in Kuantan and at a new site within PETRONAS’ proposed Refinery & Petrochemical Integrated Development (RAPID) complex in Pengerang, Johor.
